Proskauer Rose snags two finance lawyers from Milbank.

Reimer and Berne will be partners in Proskauer Rose’s global finance practice. Reimer has experience working with private equity firms, hedge funds, borrowers, issuers, and lenders in various credit facilities and lending transactions. Berne focuses on senior debt financing and asset-based lending transactions. Proskauer Rose Chairman Steven Ellis expressed optimism about the impact Reimer and Berne will have on the firm’s finance and private credit practices.

Proskauer Rose is adding two finance lawyers to its team, hiring Eric Reimer and Gayle Berne from Milbank. The pair will join Proskauer’s global finance practice as partners, the firm announced on Thursday. Reimer works with borrowers, issuers, lenders, private equity firms and hedge funds on credit facilities, front-end lending transactions, debt issuances and restructurings, among other matters.

Reimer’s arrival marks his second stint at Milbank. He spent 2010 to 2014 at O’Melveny & Myers heading its corporate and finance practice. Reimer left Milbank for a second time in 2014, joining the Los Angeles office of Paul Hastings – only to return to Milbank three years later. Reimer began his career at Milbank and completed stints at both McDermott Will & Emery and Goodwin.

Berne’s practice is focused on senior debt financing, particularly secured and asset-backed lending. She joined Milbank in 2021 from Jones Day.

Proskauer is said to be looking to extend its finance and private credit practices through new partners. The national US firm practices across a range of specialties including corporate, labour and employment, financial services and investment management.

He was a partner at Paul Hastings before making his return to Milbank.

The pair were hired with official assistance from Sabina Lippman, founder of Lippman Jungers recruitment agency.
